A baby sleep space should be guided by current safety advice rather than styling trends. Keep the setup simple and use the linked expert guidance for circumstances specific to your baby.
This overview is not medical advice. Speak to your midwife, health visitor or GP if you are unsure about your baby’s needs.
Use a separate, clear sleep space
Place baby on their back in a clear, flat, firm sleep space. Keep pillows, duvets, cot bumpers, soft toys and loose bedding out of the cot or Moses basket.

Keep baby in the same room at first
UK guidance recommends that baby sleeps in the same room as you for the first six months, for sleeps day and night, while remaining in their own sleep space.
Pay attention to temperature
Avoid overheating and check current guidance on room temperature, clothing and bedding. Feel baby’s chest or the back of their neck rather than using hands or feet as the guide.

Check advice whenever circumstances change
Prematurity, illness and other circumstances may need individual clinical advice. Product marketing is not a substitute for guidance from an appropriate health professional.
